Golden Dragon Parade:
The Golden Dragon Parade
is the highlight of the Chinese New Year celebration in Southern
California. Celebrating over 100 years, it is anticipated
that over 80,000 individuals line the parade route and thousands
view the telecast. The parade features government officials,
celebrities, and dignitaries in addition to many high school
bands, drill teams, dragon and lion dancers, among other performers.
Miss Los Angeles Chinatown Pageant:
For more than 35 years,
the Miss Los Angeles Chinatown Pageant has been one of the
most anticipated events in the Los Angeles community. Every
year an attendance ofmore then 900 are expected to come and
share in this black tie gala event. There are approximately
20 young ladies who are chosen as finalists to compete for
the title of Miss Los Angeles Chinatown. They spend 10 weeks
in preparation for this big event where they learn techniques
on public speaking and presentation as well as the history
and current affairs surrounding the Chinese American community.
Due to the time and commitment provided by the contestants,
we not only provide prizes for the Queen and her Court, but
for contestants for their participation.
Lunar New Year Festival:
In addition, the Chinese
New Year & Cultural Festival will continue throughout
the weekend with stage entertainment including cultural and
contemporary performances. Booths will be lined up in the
plaza selling food and merchandise as well as providing children
with fun activities. It is only with the support of our sponsors
that this event can be as grand as it is so that this Southern
California tradition can continue.

Miss Los Angeles Benefit Fashion Show
The reigning Miss Los Angeles
Chinatown court organizes the annual charity fashion show.
Designs are modeled by the contestants for the upcoming pageant.
Feature designers have included Sue Wong, ABS, and Paul Magalad.
Every year, the Queen and her Court donate the net proceeds
to a charity of their choice. Previous recipients have included
the Chinese American Museum, the Chinatown Service Center,
Operation Smile and the Asian Pacific Womenís Center.
Little King and Queen
Participants include 5
and 6 year old boys and girls of Chinese Heritage. A King,
Queen, Prince, and Princess are chosen and have the opportunity
to attend the Chinese New Year festivities including the Annual
Golden Dragon Parade, Chinese New Year Banquet, and they receive
recognition certificates at the Los Angeles City Council meeting.
Although it is a smaller event, the experience is unique for
these young children who participate. Every participant is
given a bag of gift items that are generously provided by
sponsors.
Chinese New Year Banquet
Chinese New Year Banquet
is a celebration of Chinese New Year with traditional Chinese
feast, lion dancers, Chinese music and red envelopes. Attendance
includes: dignitaries, civic leaders and community leaders.
Moon Festival
Celebrate this Chinese
holiday by coming to Los Angeles Chinatown. This one day event
includes cultural entertainment and activities for the entire
family. In addition to food and game booths, there is a traditional
lion dance, a Moon Festival ceremony with free mooncakes,
and a moon viewing. Learn about the traditions associated
with the Mid-Autumn Moon, when the moon is the brightest during
the year.

Golf Tournament
The Annual Golf Tournament
provide chamber member and business individual an opportunity
to enjoy a full day of golf and an award ceremony
Awards & Installation Dinner
Installation Dinner and
Award Ceremony is a time when the new President and Board
of Directors are installed. At this gala event we also recognize
Chinese American Businesses with an award ceremony celebrating
there success in the business community. Attendance includes:
dignitaries, civic leaders and community leaders and business
leaders.
Yearbook
Every year, the Chinese
Chamber of Commerce produces a Yearbook that includes information
related to the events and demographics of the Chinese American
population in Southern California. Approximately 8,000 Yearbooks
are distributed free of charge to individuals throughout the
community. The Yearbook is also used as a commemorative gift
to honored guests including dignitaries, sponsors and celebrities
during special visits and events.
