Golden Dragon Parade
The Golden Dragon Parade is the highlight of the Chinese New Year Celebration in Souther California. Celebrating over 100 years, it is anticipated that over 80,000 individuals line the parade route and thousands view the telecast. The parade features government officials, celebrities, and dignitaries in addition to many high school bands, drill teams, dragon and lion dancers, among other performers.
Miss Los Angeles Chinatown Pageant
For more than 35 years, the Miss Los Angeles Chinatown Pageant has been one of the most anticipated events in the Los Angeles Community. Every year an attendance of more than 900 are expected to come and share in this black time gala event. There are approximately 20 young ladies who are chosen as finalists to compete for the title of Miss Los Angeles Chinatown. They spend 10 weeks in preparation for this big event where they learn techniques on public speaking and presentation as well as the history of the current affairs surrounding the Chinese American Community. Due to the time and commitment provided by the contestants, we no only provide prizes for the Queen and her Court, but for contestants for their participation.
Miss Los Angeles Chinatown Fashion Show
Reigning Miss Los Angeles Chinatown court organizes the annual fashion show. Designs are modeled by the contestants for the upcoming pageant. Featured designers have included Sue Wong, ABS, The and Paul Magalad.
Little King and Queen
Participants include 5 and 6 year old boys and girls of the Chinese Heritage. A King, Queen, Prince, and Princess are chosen and have the opportunity to attend the Chinese New Years festivities including the Annual Golden Dragon Parade, Chinese New Year Banquet, and they receive the recognition certificates at the Los Angeles City Council meeting. Although it is a smaller event, the experience is unique for these young children who participate. Every participant is given a bag of gift items that are generously provided by sponsors.
Awards and Installation Dinner
Installation Dinner and Award Ceremony is a time when the new President and Board of Directors are installed. At the gala event we also recognize Chinese American Business with and award ceremony celebrating their success in the business community. Attendance includes: dignitaries, civic leader, community leaders, and business leaders.
Every year, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce produces a Yearbook that includes information to the events and demographics of the Chinese American population in Souther California. Approximately 8,000 Yearbooks are distributed free of charge to individuals throughout the community. The Yearbook is also used as a commemorative gift to honored gift to honored guests including dignitaries, sponsors and celebrities during special visits and e
